2026 Mid-Winter Tune-Up

January 24 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Please note, due to technical reasons beyond our control, if you registered before January 14th, 2026 you must register again by sending an email to Jayperry@ns.sympatico.ca or phone 782-200-9201

We are happy to announce the return of the Mid-Winter Tune-Up, Saturday, January 24. at 7 pm, St. Margaret of Scotland Church, basement hall. Entrance off downhill driveway.

Our annual Mid-Winter Tune-Up is always a great way to blast away the winter blues, and to fight the frost with fiddles and flutes! Tune-Up 2026 is coming: mark your calendars for January 24, choose some tunes from your repertoire and decide which music (sung or played) that you’d like to share with others in the EMSNS, and with the musical community at large.
People are also welcome to attend just to listen. Admission is free for members and by donation for non-members.
(If you are new to the Early Music Society, or haven’t attended a Mid-Winter Tune-Up before, please note that our “tune-up” event is a time of informal sharing, in a safe space, of pieces that singers and players have been working on.)
The deadline for registration is January 18. When registering, please include the following information:
• name of performer/group
• your group’s instruments and/or voices
• title, composer and date (if known or approximate) of the composition
• duration of the piece (approximate, but six minutes or less)
• number of chairs needed to seat your entry
• the names of those in each group (for planning the program to minimize floor-crossing during performances)
• any special requirements for your performance (e.g. need a harpsichord)
To register yourself or your ensemble, contact Jay Perry (jayperry@ns.sympatico.ca) or phone Jay at 782-200-9201
Please bring your own music stands, lights and extension cords. And don’t forget your water bottles!
Due to the increased number of participants over the past few years (YAY!), all participants are asked to keep their set to SIX MINUTES in length, please.
Doors open at 6:30 pm for 7 pm sharp start time. Come early to let your instrument warm up and get settled for a prompt start.
